Yup, Weird Factoids... What the hey was I thinking?
- I went absolutely overboard with 90s stylings. If there was a fancy animation I could throw in I would do it, I used frames, etc.
- I didn't know how to effectively use custom fonts but threw them in anyways, so visitors had to download the fonts themselves... in 2015.
- I went all-in with FrontPage technologies, which was a driving factor in choosing HelioHost services.
- The visitor counter is a FrontPage element.
- The site search is a FrontPage element.
- The comment boxes are all FrontPage elements.
HelioHost no longer provides support for FrontPage and I don't know any free web hosting providers that do have FrontPage support, so unless someone is willing to pay lots of money for GoDaddy's "classic" control panel this site is indefinitely broken in the name of preservation.
- The actual "weird facts" were just information you could have easily found elsewhere, making the site redundant.
- It was hell to view on mobile devices, which was the final death knell. (Failing that, HelioHost killing their FrontPage support would have likely done it.)
Needless to say, we should all be thankful I pulled the plug and started over.
